Enhance your listening space

Using SteinMusic products, you can significantly enhance your room acoustics, you will push the boundaries of your sound stage and at the same time give more energy to the music as a whole.

Components

Active Elements - work by charging the air with information, making it easier for sound waves to move and thus improving sound quality.

  1. SteinMusic H2 Signature

  2. SteinMusic H-Pro

Passive Elements - further enhance the room's acoustics by interacting with the air molecules

  1. SteinMusic Blue Suns

  2. SteinMusic Blue Diamonds

Placement of H2-Signature/ H-Pro Harmonizers:

Corners of the Room: Place one H2 signature /H-Pro unit in each corner of the room. This setup helps to enhance the three-dimensionality of the soundstage and improve the overall acoustic environment.

Height: Position the units at a height of about 1 meter from the floor (or on the mounting stands). This height is optimal for most listening environments.

Placing the front harmonizers somewhat closer to each other results in more definition, increasing their distance will make the soundstage more open. Please have a try and use the placement which gives the best synergies with your system.

Placement of Blue Suns:

Blue Suns work best placed horizontally with the sun structure on the top and the label on the bottom except for the one at the ceiling, which you should mount at its label side.

Behind the Speakers: Place one Blue Sun on the wall behind the speakers, ensuring equal distance from each side wall. Start at a height of 100 cm and adjust in increments of 5 cm to find the optimal height for your soundstage.

Side Walls: Position one Blue Sun on each side wall, about 200 cm high and 90 cm away from the front/back wall. Place another pair symmetrically on the side walls behind the listening position.

Behind the Listening Position: Place a Blue Sun on the wall behind your listening position, at a height of about 220 cm, aligned with the Blue Suns behind the speakers.

Ceiling: Place a Blue Sun on the ceiling, centred between the front and back Blue Suns, and midway between the listening position and the front of the speakers.

Blue Suns at the side walls will open the soundstage. The music will be playing in the room and the speakers will disappear.  This gives you a more holographic and tangible sound.

The Blue Sun at the wall behind the speakers opens the acoustical performance depth. Depending on the height of these the soundstage will shift more up or down.

The Blue Sun at the back of the listening position opens up the space in front of the speakers. One Blue Sun at the ceiling placed in about the middle of the distance from the speakers to the listening place opens up the soundstage significantly.

Placement of Blue Diamonds:

On Top of Blue Suns: Place a Blue Diamond on top of each Blue Sun using a small piece of Black Tack. This combination enhances the openness and refinement of the sound.

Additional Placement: Experiment with placing Blue Diamonds on speakers or other strategic locations in the room to further enhance the naturalness and clarity of the sound.

Refine the effect of Blue Suns by adding Blue Diamonds on top.

To get excellent results use

2 pairs of H2-Signature or H-pro

7 Blue Sun Signature + Blue Diamonds.

However, the number of H2-Signature/H-Pro used in a room does not depend on the size of the room. In a very small room of 10 square meters, a set of six pieces will give better results than only one pair. However, also in a room with a size bigger than 100m² one pair of the H2 will improve the acoustics significantly.

No room is like the other and with a little testing you will manage to find a position which works perfect.

The Experiments

We at Audiophile Heaven had the privilege to host Holger & Gabriele Stein. This was also the trigger to use their expertise and deep understanding of acoustics to experiment with the H2 system placement in our state-of-the-art Experience centre and also in our casual listening room.

The Experience centre is a more controlled environment fully equipped with GIK acoustic treatment, while the casual listening room is a setup in a small apartment living room with attached dining in an odd L-Shape.

On Day-1 in the Experience Centre (21x15 ft), we started by using 2 x H-Pro placed on top of each loudspeaker (see images) and in the cabinets (for Vinyl record storage) in the corners behind the listening position (see images). We then added a Blue Sun + Diamond in the centre on the wall behind the speakers at a height of around 10cms above the H-Pro. This setup made the soundstage even wider and boosted the height dimension. Moving the Blue Sun a few centimetres above or below its current position either made the sound a bit diffused or collapsed.

We then moved a step further to place the Blue Sun + Diamond on the side walls both at a few feet away from the front and back wall, carefully measuring them to be placed in perfect alignment to each other. This combination further increased the soundstage and the feeling of being there right in the middle of the music.

At the next step we placed another Blue Sun + Diamond in the centre of the rear wall and in the centre of the ceiling (this was hidden above the GIK acoustics cloud panels).

The final icing on the cake was adding another pair of Blue Sun + Diamond on the side walls around 3 feet from the speakers and at the same height as the H-Pro. This arrangement was magical in terms that it took the 3 dimensionality of the music even further. We could feel the sense of increase in stage depth & width with the music surrounding us at the listening position.

The song used during all these experiments was "I Will Survive" from Musica Nuda, their performance in this song is known for its emotional depth and musicality, stripping the song down to its core elements. With the H2 system now fully integrated we could feel the emotion in Petra Magoni voice. Her voice was clear and powerful, and we could feel the lyrics. It’s like as if she was narrating a personal story of overcoming challenges. While the double bass from Ferruccio Spinetti was big & we could feel the deep, resonant vibrations. Voilà!!

With the results we achieved on the previous day we headed to our casual listening room (15x11 ft). A small apartment living room which provided a lot of challenges in terms of orientation, size and acoustics. This was a real test for Holger and our team, which by the way represents most of our listening setups in India.

We started by using 2 x H2-Signatures placed on each side (and little behind) the loudspeakers (as seen in image) with the intensity knob dialled to 9 o'clock position.  For the rear wall placement of the H2 now hit the real challenge as there was no complete wall from end-end with a wide opening on the left side. We experimented by placing the H-pro and with a lot of adjustments finally arrived at an optimal placement. We then added a Blue Sun + Diamond in the centre on the wall behind the speakers at a height of around 5cms above the H2-Signatures. We used boxes and cd jewel boxes to fine-tune the height placement (see images). This setup made the soundstage extend beyond the speaker boundaries while the Blue Sun + Diamond focussed the centre image. As with our previous experience moving the Blue Sun a few centimetres above or below its current position either made the sound a bit diffused or collapsed.

Next, we placed the Blue Sun + Diamond on the side walls both at a few centimetres away from the front and back wall, carefully measuring them to be placed in perfect alignment to each other. This combination further increased the soundstage height.

We then went ahead to place another Blue Sun + Diamond in the centre of the rear wall and in the centre of the ceiling, with newer placement challenges being encountered at each step due to the room, however all were overcome with German precision and Indian jugaad.

Then we had the Eureka moment. Holger decided to experiment by placing the right side H2-Signature in the adjacent balcony (see images). This shifted the sound stage to the left and the right side of the music lost its intensity, however the H2-Signatures have an intensity dial and increasing the intensity 2 notches further to a 11 O'clock position just stitched everything together.

Again, to keep things consistent we used the same song "I Will Survive" from Musica Nuda with great results.

So, step into Audiophile Heaven and let SteinMusic acoustic elements transform your listening space.
